Jessica Rauch

Arts Education

Community Liason

Jessica has made a career in music across many areas. Informed by her experience as a performer, educator, producer, publisher, grants manager and non-profit manager, Jessica understands the music field from many perspectives. She brings this rich insight to her work with the Bloom Arts Foundation to help bring high-quality music education to all students in LA County and beyond.

After completing her degrees at Northwestern University (Bachelor of Music, Vocal Performance) and the Manhattan School of Music (Master of Music, Operatic Performance), Jessica worked as an operatic soloist, concert singer, voice teacher and as a teaching artist for Music and the Brain, teaching in the New York City public schools across all five boroughs. Music and the Brain was on the forefront of implementing music education to address systemic inequities in public education, while also connecting with thousands of students and school communities, building cultural understanding through music.

Recognizing a lack of opportunity for early career singers in New York City outside the few established venues, Jessica co-founded Opera on Tap, an educational outreach company bringing opera to new audiences and offering performing opportunities to young professional singers by presenting opera in unlikely venues, commissioning new works and bringing small performing arts organizations together. Jessica helped to create the company’s first children’s programming, adapting operas for young audiences.

While still performing and helping to grow Opera on Tap, Jessica became the grants manager for the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, The Amphion Foundation and the Virgil Thomson Foundation – three foundations with the shared mission of supporting new American classical music, amplifying new voices in an overwhelmingly Eurocentric art form. Reading through countless grant applications, Jessica was inspired by the artistry, tenacity and creativity of small organizations.

Jessica continues to perform as a classical and commercial vocalist. Her credits include advertising campaigns for major brands and performances with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera National de Lyon, the Chicago Symphony, The Ravinia Festival, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Connecticut Lyric Opera, the Utah Symphony and American Opera Projects, among others. She is currently on the roster of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

Based in the Los Angeles area since 2012, Jessica’s focus returned to music education through her experiences with her own children. She is passionate about addressing the lack of access to arts education in LA County schools.
